How To Quickly Create a Product That Sells

By James Cochrane

What is one of the quickest ways to create a product that you can sell?  Take the work of others and rework it into something that fits what you are trying to accomplish.  So I know you are probably thinking to yourself that doing that is stealing content?  It all depends on how you rewrite it and whether you are using something called Private Label Rights (PLR).  With PLR you are given permission to change or use the content and in most cases the license is quite liberal in what you can do with that content.  Often, you can break up the product and give it away or sell it as a course.  And most of the time, you can claim authorship of the product whether you change it or not.

So where can you get content to supplement the PLR content that exists (assuming you want to change the product)?  There are several options here.  You can take multiple PLR products that are related to the subject matter at hand and combine the bests information from all of them. Or you could take public domain information and use it any way you choose.  One source for this is Project Gutenberg (http://www.gutenberg.org).

A third option is to contact experts in the field of your subject matter.  If you don't believe they will talk to you think again.  Often, as long as you mention them and/or their business in your product, they will be more than happy to share their knowledge with you.  You get great expert content and they get more exposure when you distribute your product.  Sometimes depending on the subject, they may charge you for the interview but this is typically rare.

Yet another option is to pay someone (usually a ghost writer) to cerate the product for you.  With this you have to be really careful, however.  You want to make sure the writer can produce his or her portfolio for you to review.  Also, make sure you get it in writing the ownership agreement of the product.  You want all rights transferred to you.

All of these options can help you to quickly create a product that you can turn around and sell.  It's much easier than you think and you can actually have a product ready in a couple of hours.
